John was a farmer from Castlereagh Sydney N S W Australia. James Rutledge Schoolteacher and Methodist lay Preacher wrote of Ann "There were among the native born of the population some rare gems. Bright examples of Christian piety raised up to adorn the Gospel of our Blessed Lord. Among these was Mrs. Lees Wife of John Lees Jnr. She was and still is one of the excellent of the arth.
