James E. Worthan was the son of Duncan Worthan and Malinda Delilah Teal, who married in Campbell Co., GA on October 07, 1841. It is not known if Malinda was related to James' wife, Mary Ann Elizabeth Teal, or Mary Ann's grandmother, Elizabeth (Teal) Hattaway.

James E. Worthan was a Confederate soldier in Company B, 10th Georgia Cavalry.
