| In my house of ancestors I am researching the name of Blackington or Blackinton. Depending upon which side of the family you come from, the "g" in our last name is/is not present My ggg grandfather Lyman Blackington, born About 1830, married Laura Sweet from Harford Township PA. I think his father's name was David. David may have been born Abt. 1800 and originated from Masschusetts {Attleboro}. Laura and Lyman had a daughter named Ellen {my gg grandmother}, I do not know when she was born nor if she had any brothers or sisters. I have very little information about her and the family Bibles aren't of any help. My ggrandfather, Ellen's son, John Monroe Blackingtion changed the spelling of his last name to Blackinton. Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania is where my g grandparents lived. Massachusetts and England are also regions that a are part of my travels into the past. Other names in my family tree are: Ables, Benedict, Fisk, Lewis, O'Dell, Schmidt and Sweet. Who were Lyman's parents? Was or did Ellen ever get married and have more children? was she banned from the family, or did she just move away in disgrace? if so, where did she go? This is just one of the many mysteries I would like to solve! Can anyone out there help me? I would be happy to share whatever information I have. |
Welcome to the Blackington house of Ancestors!
