The Herman Schlachet Family Home Page

I am searching for anyone related to my grandfather Herman Schlachet. He immigrated from Europe in the late 1800's. I know very little about his family background except that he was orphaned at a young age and sent to live with his aunt somewhere in the Tatra Mountains somewhere in Austria, it is told.

As a young man, he worked on the Cunard Lines as a Matre'd He then put himself through Pharmacy School and opened a drug store in Chicago, Ill at the corner of Madison and Central.

I would love to hear from anyone with the last name of Schlachet. It is such unique name that we all must certainly be related in some fashion.
