Thomas Bervin Brown, son of William Brown and Mary Butcher, was christened on 28th April 1799 in Saint Dunstan, Stepney, London, England, died on 22nd July 1853 in Geelong, Victoria, Australia. The cause of his death was apoplexy. Burial Notes: Geelong Eastern Cemetry, Church of England reg # 94023, type B, COEO-B-423 Wheelwright, Ashby, Headstone erected by wife and family. Noted events in his life were: * He worked as a Wheel Wright for his entire life.* He emigrated from London, England to Hobart Town Tasmania in 1833. He and his family, wife Ann, children Eliza, Amelia, Harriet & Thomas sailed from London and arrived in Hobart Town on the 9th of September, 1833 upon the Indiana. It was a 4000 ton vessel with two guns. The ship's master was James Webster. There were 14 passengers and 37 in steerage including 30 children. The Indiana then sailed onto Sydney departing 15th of November and arriving 29th of November 1833. Other passengers on the Indiana include: Mr & Mrs W Brown and 4 children (possibly Thomas' brother) Mr & Mrs S Collier and 2 children (a family friend or relative)*He emigrated from Tasmania to Geelong in 1864. He and his family all moved to Geelong in about 1846. They lived in a house and smith shop in Maitland Street near the Crown Hotel in Ashby.*His obituary was published on 22nd July 1853 in Geelong, Vic, Australia. Newspaper obituary from Geelong.DIED At his late residence in Maitland St. near the Crown Hotel Ashby, Mr Thomas Brown Wheel Wright aged 52 having been suddenly seized with an appelectic fit in Corio St on Wednesday last; he was much esteemed as an old resident tradesman in Geelong, and deeply deplored by his beloved wife and large family. The friends of the late Thomas Brown are respectfully invited to attend the funeral at 2 o'clock on Sunday July 24th Maitland Street near the Crown Hotel Ashby.*He signed a will on 1st December 1852. This is the last will and testament of me Thomas Brown of Geelong in the colony of Victoria, Wheel Wright. First I direct all my just debts, funeral and testamentary expenses to be paid by my exectrix and executor herin after named. I give devise and bequeath unto my dear wife Ann Brown and to her heirs executory administatory and assign all my real and personal estate and effects whatever and situate to have and to hold the same according to the nature and quality of the same to my said dear wife Ann Brown during her natural life and I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said wife Ann Brown and Henry Benson of Geelong in the colony of Victoria aforesaid gentleman and Samuel Hubbard of Geelong in the said colony of Victoria gentleman and executrix and executory of this my last will and testament and in case of either of my said executors hereby appointed being desirous or unwilling to act under this my will or being about to leave the said colony of Victoria other or continuing executor or exectrix shall be at liberty should they see occassion appoint a new trustee or trustees. I hereby expressly direct and appoint that my said dear wife should remain continue and be in the peaceable and quiet possesion and enjoyment of my said real and personal estate and the rents proceeds and profits thereof during the term of her natural life and from and after the decease of my said wife then I also direct that the same may be held in trust by my said trustees or executors to receive the rents issues and proceeds thereof for the benefit maintenance support and education of my daughters Jane and Ann and on either of my said daughters arriving at maturity or the age of twenty one years or become lawfully married after the decease of my said wife then I also direct that the sum of one hundred pounds should sufficient money be in the hands of my said trustees be paid to each or either of my said two daughters so arriving at maturity or the age of twenty one years or becoming lawfully married so as aforesaid AND I give devise and bequeth the sum of one hundred pounds to be paid to my grand daughter Mary Jane Benson the daughter of the said Henry Benson such sum to be paid to her on her arriving at the age of twenty years or in the event of her decease then the same sum to be paid to her sister Emily Benson AND I declare that in the event of the decease of my said wife or of my said daughters Jane and Anne or thier becoming married then the whole of the rents issues and proceeds of my said real and personel estate shall be equally divided between my other children Eliza the wife of the said Samuel Hubbard my son Thomas, Amelia the widow of Joseph Mather deceased and Harriet the wife of the said Henry Benson and I also declare the receipt or receipts of my said exectrix or executors shall be good and sufficient discharges to any person or persons paying money AND in the event of the decease of either of my said daughters before attaining such age of twenty one years then her share or shares shall go to such of the others as may be then living after the decease of my said wife AND I appoint my said wife Ann Brown, Henry Benson and Samual Hubbard to be exectrix and executors of this my said will hereby revoking all other wills by me heretofore made.
