Notes from Donna Cushing:
Cromwell McVitty (originally spelled McVity) emigrated to America, probablyfrom Dublin, prior to 1760 and purchased a farm 3-4 miles from Churchtown, Caernarvon Township, Lancaster Co., PA.The vestry book of the old Bango Episcopalian Church at Churchtown, records him as vestryman in 1783 and a pew-holder in 1759.
Crowell was married three times.First to Margaret Hudson, daughter f George Huson. They had two children, William born about 1760 and Elizabeth born abot 1762.After Cromwell's death William purchased the farm.
His second wife as recorded at the St. James Episcopal Church in Lancaster, PA was Margaret Anderson. No Children are listed for this marriage.
His third wife was Margaret McCurdy (reported to be the daughter of James and Mary McCurdy.I believe I gave you their children. If not let me know.Cromwell died March 1789 and was buried near his home in Lancaster Co.I wonder if that means he was buried in a cemetary in Churchtown.
