Benjamin Bruce fell in love with a pretty girl named Susan Pritchett and they were mar. in 1884. Susan V. Pritchett was b. 1863 and d. 1934. They moved from Hamilton County. with 3 young sons to Omaha, IL. in the yr. 1900. Benjamin was tiller of the soil that fed and clothed his family. This homestead is 3 miles southwest of Omaha. (Per history of Gallatin County, IL)

Obituary:
DEATH - B. F. Bruce, a Ridgway citizen, aged 78 years, died Sep. 20th in Evansville. Mr. Bruce was a civil war veteran, serving in the Union army for over three years. The funeral was held from the Methodist church in Ridgway Fri. afternoon Sep. 22nd., conducted by Rev. O. E. Connett. Before removing to Ridgway several yrs. ago he was a successful farmer.

Adkins Cemetery Notation says 4th Infantry, presume Civil War.
