Our Jewell family history begins with Moses and Hannah Jewell of Greene Co, PA. His son Jonathan was born 1804 in Greene County; married Hannah Scott 1825 Licking Co.,Ohio, where their children were born; moved to Green Co. Wisc around 1848; then to Bloom, Richland Co., Wisc. 1855.

Jonathan and Hannah had at least 9 children: Isaiah, Charity, Clarissa, Philena, Benjamin Bell, William Van Buren, Martha Ann, Phebe Jane, Olive Lucetta.

Son Benjamin Bell Jewell Sr married Mary Thorp/Tharp. Her family originally from NJ. Her father and brother died in Civil War. Benjamin also fought and died in Civil War. Son Benjamin Bell, Jr. born one week prior to father's death. His mother later married David Barrett, also Civil War veteran.

The Barretts and young Benjamin Jewell moved to Osage Co., Kansas about 1876/7. Benjamin married Ella Victoria Whetston and they had nine children, seven who lived to adulthood. Each year on Memorial Day weekend the family has a Jewell Family Reunion; held for the last few years at Lake Shawnee, Topeka, Shawnee County, Kansas.

My research now centers on finding the parents and the birthdate and place for Moses and Hannah and possibly work my way back from there.

Currently I am trying to organize my information into book form and am willing to exchange information. Donavene
