Wroblewski-Targosz Family

Updated September 5, 2000

My grandfather Piotr WRÓBLEWSKI (b 1887) in the village of Sosnowice, Wadowice District, Paskowka Parish, Krakow Province, was the 3d child born to Antoni & Marianna ZAMYSLOWSKA Wróblewski. Piotr was in the Austrian Army c1910. He married Jozefa TARGOSZ (b 1889) the daughter of Josef & Agnes Targosz. Jozefa was born in Wadowice and had two known brothers, Tomas & Piotr. Piotr & Jozefa sailed from Antwerp April 13, 1912 on the SS Kroonland and arrived in NY April 23, 1912. They settled in Wyandotte, MI and had 6 children. In December of 1923, ten days after giving birth to the 6th child, Jozefa died. In May of 1925, Piotr returned to his homeland with 5 of his children. (the baby was adopted out) Piotr married Rozali CELEBAN and he built their log home in Frydrychowice, Wadowice District, Bielsko-Biala Province. They had two daughters, but another tragedy occurred in 1930. Rozali died when she had a miscarriage. She and the baby boy were buried together in the parish cemetery in Wadowice. Piotr's American-born children returned to America in 1937-39. He would never see his children again. He died in Komorowice, Bielsko-Biala in August, 1961 when I was 4 yrs old.My Wroblewski & Targosz ancestors lived in Wadowice and Zawadka. They attended the same church Pope John Paul attended. For many years I have been trying to find the relatives of my grandparents who may still be living in Poland. I have not had much luck.If anyone is visiting Wadowice, Poland and would like to help me find my relatives, please contact me.
