A cousin of mine was searching for his family. He was asking family members questions about the descendants of his father’s family. I found this very interesting and the desire to search for my father side descendant’s was planned on my heart. The next day I started the search by contacting “Ioannis or (John) K. Ligerakis” the oldest family member in the village “Nio Horio” Apokoronou Hania, Crete, Greece. He told me than his grandfather’s last name was originally “Markakis” but he was called by the given surname “Ligeraki” (which means good bodily figured man), as he was a handsome man and a good dancer. He also told me that he was from the village “Mprosniero” Apokoronou, a village close by. |
