I am researching NOAH LILLEY b. 19 April 1771 in Martin Co., NC d. Bef. 21 Aug 1844 in Red River Co. ( now Camp Co., ) Texas. He married MARY CURRY BARNETT the daughter of Hugh Jr. and Margaret Harris McFARLAND BARNETT.. She was b. 27 July 1785 in Person Co., NC. d. aft 1837 in Redriver Co., TX...On 15 Dec. 1798 in Sumner Co. he was commissioned a Lieutenant in the TN Militia. On 15 May 1801 in Smith Co., he was commissioned a Lieutenant in the TN Militia. He lived in Sumner, Smith, Rutherford, and Hardin Co.'s in TN before moving to Texas in about 1837. In 1839 he was found in Red River Co., Republic of Texas. On 7 Feb 1842, Certificate No. 23 issued to Noah Lilley by the Land Courts of Paschall County, Texas, 640 Acres. This land was on the Cherokee Trace and the head rights on North, Middle, and South Lilley's Creeks. Paschall Co. Was not properly organized and only existed a few years. In 1846 it became Upsher Co. And in 1847 it became Camp Co. His OBITUARY: Printed in the CLARKSVILLE NORTHERN STANDARD on August 21, 1844, page 4, column 1. " Lilley, Noah; died of acute gastritis on his plantation in ( the Southern District of ) Red River county ( in the 74th year of his age.) He was born in Martin County, N. C., in 1771; emigrated to Tenn. at an early day; from whence he came to Texas in 1837." |
