Notes for W
ILLIAM ODOM:
It is widely believed that William was born in 1610 or possibly before. He came to America landing in Virginia some time before his children. His wife probably died in England. No exact date has yet been found for his arrival in Virginia. William died in 1661 and his will was proved 16 Febuary 1662. In his will three of his children are listed; Richard ( under 17 years of age), William "The Younger", and Ellen.

After William's death there was two others with the name of Odion to arrive from England, on 21 March 1664, landing in Nansemond County, Virginia. They were John and Abram Odion. The relationship to William is not known but they may have been brothers.

The Odom's land appears to have been located on the boundary of Virginia and North Carolina. Living in the same location the boundry lines changed. It was known as, "The Old Oldam Plantation". Nansemond County, Virginia was formed from Elizabeth City County. From different records this same land may have been listed at different times in Nansemond, Norfolk, Isle of Wight or Suffolk County.
