1. JOHN⁵ GRIFFIN (JOHN GRIFFIN⁴ JR., JOHN³ GRIFFIN, OWEN², SAMUEL¹) was born Abt. 1752 in Virginia, and died December 28, 1829 in Tennessee. He married JANE TINNIN November 02, 1785 in Orange Co., N.C., daughter of JOHN TINNIN and JANE MEBANE. She was born 1760 in Orange Co., N.C., and died 1840 in Gibson County.,Tennessee.

Alex Thompson, Tucson, Az. (5/25/03) states "I first encountered the information in Jane Grey Buchana's book "Thomas Thompson and Ann Finney of Colonial pennsylvania and North Carolina", p. 129.
Hugh Tinnin's wife was Sibella Thompson, dauther of Lawrence Thompson,Esq. married
Sarah Finney. John Griffin's brother-in-law was Hugh Tinnin (Ca.1755-1794) Hugh Tinnin was a Colonel in the Orange Co. N.C. militia during the Rev. War and Capt. John Griffin served with him. John Griffin named a son Hugh (after his wife brother) and a daughter, Sibella after Hugh Tinnin's wife.
