1. ROBERT DONATHAN² BOLIN (UNKNOWN¹) was born August 16, 1822 in Raleigh, N.C., and died March 28, 1899 in Lamar County, Alabama. He married NANCY EDELINE CANTRELL December 25, 1843 in Marion County, Alabama, daughter of BERRY CANTRELL and MALITA. She was born April 26, 1826 in Spartansburg, S.C., and died June 06, 1893 in Marion County, Alabama.

Notes for ROBERT DONATHAN BOLIN:
He was a preacher, farmer and in 1860 census was listed as Coroner;
fairly prosperous according to census data. He died at his son's home
in Lamar Co. (Ples Bolin) in 1899- he gave all of his children nick-names
The Vernon Courier said of his passing that he was "one of the originals
characters of this section of North Alabama; spent most of his life in the
service of the Church. During the winter of 1863-64 Confederate Soldiers
and Union "outlaws" that roamed the area stole everything people had and
shot Rev. Bob Bolin's nice ox just out in the road. (From "Memoirs of
Miss Elliot Key - for her good friend Wm B. Ford) His first land was close to
Pikevill which was made the Co.Seat om 1817 when Marion Co. was
formed. Prior to that it was The Cherokee Ind. Terr. He did not fight in the
War between the States, nor did he own slaves. He was a Mason,
Member Guin Lodge, No. 478. A.F.& M.
