HE WAS THE 7TH CHILD OF JAMES AND NANCY LINZEY. HE NEVER MARRIED. HIS FATHER JAMES LINZEY DIED WHEN HE WAS FIVE YEARS OLD AND HE BECAME ATTACHED TO HIS MOTHER AND NEVER LEFT HER SIDE UNTIL HE PASSED AWAY ON JANUARY 8 1918. ON JANUARY 8 1918 THE DEATH ANGEL VISITED THE HOME OF OUR SISTER NANCY LINZEY AND TOOK FROM EARTH TO HEAVEN OUR BROTHER RAYMOND LINZEY HER YOUNGEST SON BROTHER RAYMOND WAS A MEMBER OF MT MORIAH BAPTIST CHURCH. HE DEDICATED HIMSELF TO THE CHURCH IN EARLY 1905 AND WAS BAPTISED BY BROTHER J J NELSON AND LIVED A CONSISTENT LIFE UNTIL HIS DEATH. ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CHARACTERISTICS OF HIS LIFE WAS HIS DVOTION TO HIS WIDOWED MOTHER. HIS FATHER HAVING GONE BEFORE HIM SEVERAL YEARS.. THOUGH IN HIS 28TH YEAR, HE NEVER LEFT HIS MOTHER ALONE, ALWAYS ADMINISTERING TO HER COMFORT. FOR SEVERAL DAYS BEFORE HIS DEATH HE WAS CONSCIOUS THAT THE END WAS DRAWING NEAR. HE TOLD HIS MOTHER THAT HE WAS GOING TO LEAVE HER BUT THAT HE DID NOT FEAR DEATH. THAT HE WAS GOING HOME AND THAT GOD WOULD TAKE CARE OF HER. HE GAVE INSTRUCTIONS AS TO HIS BURIAL SELECTING SONGS TO BE SUNG AND ASKED THAT BROTHER HAND HIS PASTOR, PREACH HIS FUNERAL. THE CHURCH INDEED WILL MISS HIM AS THE COMMUNITY. BUT MOST OF ALL HE WILL BE MISSED BY HIS MOTHER. MAY GOD BLESS AND COMFORT THE MOTHER BROTHERS AND SISTERS. BROTHER RAYMOND WAS BORN JULY 23 1890, DIED JANUARY 8 1918. RESPECTFULLY, A FRIEND.
