This family page is dedicated to the research, family updates, reunion information, and general fellowship with those who have descended from the family of William Smith Terrill and Mary Ann Thompson Terrill.

The Wm. Terrills began their lives in the Cherokee Nation of what is now Oklahoma. They moved to northern Texas about 1860, following Mary's family to the Preston Bend area. Many of this original family are buried in the Preston Bend Cemetery, which is located just north of the Red River, near Whitesboro, TX.

Most of the children of William and Mary Terrill died, reportedly due to epidemics or blizzards. However, John Gunn Terrill and his brother, Albert Pike Terrill returned to the Cherokee Nation around 1880. It appears that this move followed their inclusion in the will of William Choate of the Cherokee Nation. The will stipulated that land, cattle, and horses he owned be divided among the heirs of William Choate, the hiers of Dr. Frazier of Texas, and the heirs of Terrell of Texas. The land was discribed "his lower ranch in Salisaw". This corresponds with the location of the John Gunn Terrill ranch between Vian and Webbers Falls, OK.

Join in the fun of the hunt for new clues regarding this spunky, intelligent, and courageous frontier family.

This is a new web page and will be under construction for a good while. Please be patient!
