| Based upon documentation from the Latvian State Historical Archives in Riga, Latvia, my maternal family's surname was CHAIT (HAIT). My grandmother Rose SPIVAK bat Abraham Yeshaya and Leah married Leib CHAIT, a Reserve Soldier on January 9, 1886. The information was quite revealing and completely different from what the family related. My mother always thought her biological father was Isaac LAMBE, but not until he died in 1930. Then she was told she and her three siblings were adopted by Isaac after be married my grandmother in about 1898. My mother always carried a maiden name of LAMBE. |
