Begins with Thomas LITTLE born May 10, 1854, in Scotland. His parents were Thomas Little and Isabella Allen. He immigrated from Liverpool, England to Philadelpha, PA September 28, 1868. After arriving in Murphysboro, Jackson Co., IL he married Mary Dale July 18, 1876, in Mount Carbon, Jackson Co., IL.
The DALE Family:
Begins with John and Ann (nee Evans) DALE, and their four children, all born in Glamorgan, Wales: Randolph b. May 12, 1854 in Baglan Lower, John E. b. January 23, 1857 in Michaelstone Lower, Mary b. May 08, 1859 in Buck Farm, and Henry (Harry) b. July 28, 1862 in Risca. The family immigrated around 1870 from Glamorgan, Wales to Jackson Co., IL.
Thomas and Mary (nee Dale) LITTLE had three children: Anna born circa 1878, William b. October 30, 1879, and John Harry b. July 13, 1882. Mary (nee Dale) Little d. May 27, 1915, and Thomas Little d. April 22, 1922. Both are buried in Tower Grove cemetry in Murphysboro, Jackson Co., IL.
The NOAKES/KNOX Family:
Begins with Thomas NOAKES bap. August 24, 1800 in Brede, Sussex, England. He married Mary WOOLLETT April 20, 1820 in Brede, Sussex, England. Around 1842, Thomas, his wife Mary and their six children: Mary Ann bap. May 12, 1822, Charlotte b. circa 1823, Thomas, Jr. bap. February 26 1826, Louisa bap. January 16, 1828 David bap. February 26, 1827 and Sarah Harriet b. August 18, 1840. All in Brede, Sussex, England. Around 1841-42 the Thomas Noakes family immigrated from Sussex,England to Syracuse, New York where they lived for several years. Around 1844-1845 they migrated to Lockport, Will Co., IL. Thomas Noakes d. October 20, 1849, in Lockport, Will Co., IL. Thomas Noakes, Jr. moved to Nebraska in the late 1870's; David Noakes and his sisters remained in Illinois. At school some of the children were taught to spell their name Knox, resulting in the two surnames. Same family....different surnames.
