PETTYPIECE & SHUEL FAMILIES OF IRELAND & CANADA

I am researching the ancestors of my parents Russell Alger PETTYPIECE and Erin Ona SHUEL.
The Shuels immigrated from Co. Kerry Ireland to Canada during the famine and settled in Essex Co., Ontario. The Pettypieces also immigrated during the famine years, coming from Co. Sligo, Ireland and settled in Ontario. My line settled in Essex Co. while many of their relatives settled in the Ottawa Valley of Ontario. I have found two spellings for the Shuel name -- Shuel and Shuell. The Pettypiece name has many spellings, eg. Pettapiece, Petapiece, Pettipiece, Petipiece, Pattypiece etc. Since my immediate ancestors spelled their name with the "y" that is the spelling I have used for most of my research. There are still some of the family left in Co. Sligo, Ireland and they spell the name with the "i".

I would like to share information with anyone researching these or allied families.
