The 1790 US Census shows John to be a head of household in Baltimore Co., MD with 1 male under age 16 and 2 females. The 1820 US Census lists him in York Co., PA - no female over age 26 is listed on this census so it is assumed that his wife, Elizabeth, died before 1820.
The York Co., PA Tax Rolls list John from 1801-1811 with 180 acres and 1814-1825 with 140-150 acres.
John Blocker's will, dated 29 December 1837, was recorded on 7 August 1838 in York Co., PA. He describes himself as a widower of Manheim Township, York County, Pennsylvania. The will names daughter Anna, wife of Isaac Bollinger and son Jacob Blocher.

Notes for Conrad 'Ruppert' Roberts:
Conrad Roberts was born Conrad Ruppert. Ruppert is also found spelled Roppert and Rupart. He entered the Hessen Army on 14 May 1777 at the age of 24. His army records show that he was 5'2" tall. Conrad served as a Hessen soldier during the Revolutionary War when the British hired the Hessen soldiers to help them fight the Colonists. He was discharged on 17 July 1783.
Some researchers believe that Conrad returned to Germany after the war to collect the inheritance left to him by his father before immigrating to America. I have some doubts about this. His father died in 1756 when Conrad was just 5 years old. Conrad was 24 years old when he became a Hessian Soldier and should have received any inheritance left him before this time. No record of his immigration has been found. The Hetrina clearly states that he separated in America in July 1783. The fact that he wanted to stay in America would explain why he changed his name to Roberts. At the time, he certainly wouldn't have wanted people to know that he had been a Hessian Soldier.
Conrad Roberts married Mary Magdalena Frankfurter in Baltimore County, Maryland on 2 March 1784. After Magdalena's death he married two more times and has a total of 16 known children. He is listed on the Washington County, Maryland US Census in 1790. By 1799 his name is found on a Tax List for York County, Pennsylvania. Conrad moved to Bath Township, Greene County, Ohio by 1816 and died there in 1832. His will was proved in Greene County, Ohio on 24 November 1832.

      188. Joseph Bollinger, born 29 April 1743 in probably Germany; died 15 November 1826 in Linesboro, Baltimore, MD, USA - bur: Bollingers Contrivance near Linesboro. He was the son of 376. Mr Bollinger. He married 189. Ursula Brodbeck Abt. 1767 in York Co, PA, USA.

      189. Ursula Brodbeck, born Abt. 1750 in York Co, PA, USA; died Bet. 1787 - 1790 in (MD). She was the daughter of 378. Hans Heinrich 'Henry' Brodbeck II and 379. Eva Hoffman.

Notes for Joseph Bollinger:
BOLLINGER means 'hill dweller.' It comes from the terrain the family lived on when the surname originated. It is said to be of Teutonic origin from the ancient Teuton peoples of Northern Europe - especially Germany.
Tradition has it that Joseph and his brother, Henry Bollinger came to America with their mother around 1754. The family was settled in York County, Pennsylvania by 1756. The mother's name is unknown but she remarried to Johannes Heinrich 'John' Lamott. John Lamott died in March 1803 and Joseph Bollinger was mentioned in his will. John Lamott is buried at 'Bollinger's Contrivance.'
Joseph married Ursula Brodbeck, daughter of Henry Brodbeck, around 1767. They made their home in Manheim Township, York County, Pennsylvania where their seven children were born.
On May 9, 1765 Joseph purchased, by warrant, 75 acres in Manheim Township and some time later, purchased another 80 acre parcel known as 'Deep Dale.' His name, as well as that of Henry and Jacob Bollinger, Mathias Blocher and John Derwachter appear on the 1779 and 1783 tax lists for York County, Pennsylvania.
In 1784 Joseph bought land in Baltimore County, Maryland. He named this property 'Bollinger's Contrivance.' It was located about a mile south of Lineboro near the Pennsylvania / Maryland boarder in what is now Carroll County, Maryland. Carroll County was formed from Baltimore County in 1837. Joseph is listed on the 1810 Federal Census for Baltimore County, Maryland.
Ursula died between 1787 and 1790 and Joseph married his second wife Catherine. They had 10 children --- that makes a total of 17 children born to Joseph and his two wives!
Joseph died on 15 November 1826 and is buried at 'Bollinger's Contrivance.' His tombstone reads: Here is buried Joseph Bollinger born the 29th April 1743 died on 15 November 1826 was aged 83 years 6 months and 17 days. His will dated 2 June 1826 was probated in Baltimore County, Maryland on 5 December 1826 and was recorded in Will Book 12, pages 319-320, FHL film #0013595.
His second wife, Catherine, died on 3 May 1839 and is also buried at 'Bollinger's Contrivance.' (contrive: to bring about as by a scheme)
