      400. George Rives, born Abt. 1695 in Lancaster Co, VA, USA; died February 1774 in Prince William Co, VA, USA. He married 401. Ann Doggett Abt. 1718 in Lancaster Co, VA, USA.

      401. Ann Doggett, born Abt. 1700 in Lancaster Co, VA, USA; died Aft. 1751 in Prince William Co, VA, USA. She was the daughter of 802. Benjamin Doggett II and 803. Betty ?.

Notes for George Rives:
George Reeves (Rives) was born ca 1695-96. He married Ann Doggett ca 1718 in Lancaster Co, Virginia.
They moved to Northumberland Co, VA where he received a land grant for 370 acres in 1726. They then moved to Stafford Co, VA and he received a land grant for 921 acres there in 1728. His property in Stafford Co. became part of Prince William Co, VA when it was formed in 1630-31. He deeded most of his land to his sons in 1751.
George can be found on the 1760 Rent Roll for Northumberland Co, VA and on the 1773 Rent Roll for Prince William Co.
George died in Prince William Co. about February 1774. His will, made in 1774, names his son, Asa, as executor.
It is thought that George is not our immigrant Reeves ancestor. Researches believe that George was the son of John Reeves (b ca 1665) and his wife Grace. John was the son of William Reeves (ca 1636-ca 1695.) William is thought to be the immigrant ancestor, arriving in Virginia ca 1652 from England. This line can be traced in England to Robert Ryves (ca 1490-1550/51.) Robert was born in France and was a Huguenot from the Languedoc, France area.
George Reeves ancestor information is from Paul Reeves home page on the internet.

      433. (Nancy Whitlow), born Abt. 1704; died Bet. 1733 - 1804.

Notes for Francis Farley I:
Francis Farley Sr. was born 25 October 1703 in Henrico Co., VA. He married Nancy (maiden name possibly Whitlow) about 1723. They were the parents of four sons. Nancy died sometime between 1733 and 1758 when Francis married 2nd Elizabeth Crostic. There was one son born to the 2nd marriage.
In 1749 Francis received a land grant for 376 acres in Henrico County Virginia. He probably lived and worked this land until about 1758. (patents 27, p.389)
Francis grew to manhood during the time of the great expansion in Virginia. Agencies had been set up in England to promote settlement on the Virginia frontier. Not being the eldest son, Francis was not encumbered by the time honored tradition and laws of inheritance of the "home place." The choice of where to live and what occupation to pursue was his to make.
Francis may have yearned for adventure, perhaps he was just curious, or maybe he was seeking his fortune - whatever the reason he joined a surveying party about 1740 and headed for the frontier helping to survey the area that is now Bedford County Virginia near the Blue Ridge Mountains. Apparently he liked what he saw, went back home to get his family and headed west to Bedford County. Thus Francis became the first of our Farley ancestors to join in the westward movement.
During his life, Francis resided in the Virginia counties of Henrico, Chesterfield (formed from Henrico), Bedford, and Greenbrier (now Monroe Co, W VA.) Francis died in 1791 and his 2nd wife, Elizabeth, in 1797. They are both buried one mile below the mouth of Indian Creek on what is believed to have been Francis Farley Jr's land in what is now Monroe Co, W Virginia.
