I am searching for info on ancestors and descendants of John Nicholas Wagner, born in 1801 in Alsace, France.Wife Mary Elizabeth Mathias, born 10-29-1800 in Alsace, France.They left the Kingdom of France on 5 Aug 1840 and reached New York in Oct 1840 with their three children.They settled in St. Peter's, Indiana, where three more children were born, and later moved to Laurel, Indiana.Their son Mathias married an Anna Grace McDonald (McDonnell), whose parents were Alexander Ulerick McDonald (1831-1917) and Anna or Mary Anne Ready (1820-1911), both born in County Mayo, Ireland.They moved to England in 1854 and with their three surviving children, came to America in 1869.These children were Martin, Anna Grace, and John Henry.I am also searching for info on ancestors and descendants of Henry Clay, Henry Charles, or Charles Henry Walker, who is of Scottish descent.He was born in about 1844 in Pittsboro, Hendricks County, Indiana, and died 4 Feb 1916 at age 72.He joined the Army at age 14 and fought in America's Civil War.He married Martha Luticia Portis (born circa 1841 - died 13 Dec 1915) in High Point, North Carolina, at the end of the war, circa 1865, taking her back to Pittsboro, Indiana.He had a brother named Howard and a sister named Ella.He went by "Charles" or "Charlie," but told one of his daughters his name was Henry Clay Walker.He was an artist or sign painter, and painted signs to earn a living on the way back home from the war.They had seven surviving children:Marietta, Levi, Gulea ("Julia"), Charles Elwood, Silas Sylvester, Gertrude, and Sadie. | |
