| Researching the ancestors and descendants of George and Sarah Hiatt Locke of northern Virginia/West Virginia. George was born April 25, 1747, died September 28, 1823. He was the son of John Locke and wife Nancy ______ Locke. John was a Corporal in the Continental Army, who served in the 4th and 8th Virginia Regiment of Foot. He was at Valley Forge in February 1778. Sarah Hiatt Locke born October 9th, 1753 died July 27th, 1827, was the daughter of John Hiatt Jr. who settled in Virginia in 1732. George and Sarah are buried on the "Old Locke Farm" which had the Opeckan Creek as one of its boundaries, in what is now Clark County, Virginia. Related families are ---Dunn, Day. The old farm more than likely was partly in what is now Berkeley County and Jefferson County, West Virginia. |
