He married (2) MARY GERTRUDE MORMAN Aft. 1934, daughter of FRED MORMAN and ANN CULP. She was born 1891 in Kentucky, and died September 26, 1975 in Nelsonville, Athens County, Ohio.

Elmer was a coal miner at the time of his marriage. His inscription reads "Father".

ELMER LOCKE, 74, IS DEAD
Nelsonville - Elmer Locke, 74, retired coal miner, died Thursday afternoon at Mount St. Mary Hospital, where he had been receiving treatment. Native of Coal Works, Ohio, he had spent most of his life in Nelsonville and vicinity. A mine injury in 1928 caused his retirement, it was stated.

Friends may call at the Warren Funeral Home, where final rites will be held Sunday at 2 P.M., conducted by the Rev. B. A. Awe, Columbus. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Mr. Locke was a member of the Pilgrim Holiness Church here.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Gertrude Locke, four sons, Harry, Ervin and Carl, Nelsonville, and Harold with the Army stationed at Ft. Meade, Md; one daughter, Mrs. Frances Guess, Nelsonville; three step-children, Mrs. Juanita Daugherty, Haydenville, Mrs. Ella Herrold, Chillicothe and Arthur Green, local; two brothers, John of Chauncey and Douglas of The Plains; and four sisters, Mrs. Martha Willis, Mrs. Tish Childress, Chauncey, Mrs. Mary Howland, Jacksonville, and Mrs. Dollie Burnell, Akron.

MARY LOCKE
NELSONVILLE - Mr. Mary Gertrude Locke, 84, formerly of Nelsonville, died early Friday at the Angel of Mercy Nursing Home in Albany.

Born in Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Ann Culp Morman. She is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Wallace (Ella) Harell, Chillcothe; and Mrs. James (Juanita) Doughterty, Logan; a step-daughter, Mrs. Frances Guess, Nelsonville; three step-sons, Carl, Harold and Ervin Locke, all of Nelsonville; five grand-chidlren; 15 great-grand-children; seven step-grand-children; 10 step-great-grand-children, and two step great-great-grand-children.

She was preceded in death by three husbands, George Green, William Zwick and Elmer Locke, an infant daughter Harriet, a sister, Rose Perry and a brother Henry Morman.

Services will be Monday, 1 p.m.in the Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. William Merchem officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.

CARL LOCKE
NELSONVILLE - Carl Leroy Locke, 56, of Nelsonville, died Friday afternoon at his residence of carbon monoxide poisoning. Born in Haydenville, son of the late Elmer and Katie Foit Locke, he was an employee of the Logan Clay Products Co., a Worl War II Air Force veteran and served two years in the South Pacific. He was a member of the Nelsonville Weslyan Church.

He is survived by two brothers, Ervin (Sloppy) and Harold (Pat) Locke, both of Nelsonville; one sister Frances (Sis) Guess of Nelsonville; brother and sister-in laws; and nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Norma (Skivers) Locke, who died March 26 and by a brother Harry.

Services will be Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the Johnson-Souers Funeral Home wih the Rev. William Mechem officiating. Burial will be at the Greenlawn Cemetery.

NELSONVILLE - Norma Jean Locke, 52, of Nelsonville, Route 2, died Wednesday afternoon at Holzer Medical Center, after an extended illness.

Born in Nelsonville, she a daughter of the late Eugene and Delphia White Skivers. A lifelong resident of Nelsonville, she was a 25-year employee of the People's Bank and a 1945 graduate of Nelsonville High School. Surviving are her husband Carl, a brother Mervin Skivers of Caron Hill; four sisters, Helen Nicholson and Mrs. Harlen (Dauneda)Kasler of Chauncey, Mrs. Fred (Bernice) Ferrell of Nelsonville and Donna Lee Skivers of the home. She was preceded in death by her parents and two bothers, Dale and Clarence.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Johnson-Souers Funeral Home with the Rev. William Merchem officiating. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Cemetery.

OLONEL LOCK:
George Lock, Colonel's father, was a witness at the marriage to Mary but his mother was not listed. Thet were both listed in his marriage to Abbigail. Mary died in 1905 and Colonel remarried the following year. This was Abbigail's first marriage. Colonel was listed as a miner. Both Abbigail and Colonel were living in Monday, Hocking County at the time of this marriage.

His death certificate lists the cause of death as pnuemonia; he also had bronchial asthma. Colonel and Mary were found in the Ward Township, Atehns County 1900 federal register. Colonel and Abbie were then found in the 1920 federal census for Hocking County, Ohio. Colonel is listed as a coal miner in 1900. In the 1920 federal census for Athens Township, Athens County, Ohio, Colonel is listed as a repairman in a mine.

OHN LOCK:
Both John and Hanna were residing in Nelsonville at the time of their marriage. Consent was given by John's father, George. He was living in Chauncey at the time of his brother Elmer death in 1951.

John was a widowed retired coal miner at the time of his death. He was staying at the Mt. St. Mary's Hospital at the time of his death. He died of prostate cancer. The informant for his death certificate was his sister, Tish. Funeral arrangements were made by the Johnson Funeral Home in Nelsonville, OH.

John and his family were living in Circle Hill, Athens County in the 1920 federal census. His wife's name was listed as Anna. Living next door to John was Ed Johnson, son of Arch Johnson and Nancy (Locke) Johnson, John's aunt.

JOHN LOCK DIED at 70 IN HOSPITAL
Nelsonville - John Lock, 70, 16 Mill St, Chauncey, died Saturday morning at Mount St. Mary Hospital. He had been in ill health for several years. He was a retired coal miner, formerly employed in Chauncey mines, and a native of Boyd County in Kentucky. He was the son of the late George and Reanie Lock.

He is survived by one son, Richard of Mentor; two daughters, Mrs. Maxine Sherwood and Mrs. Virginia Durk, both of Willoughby; four sisters, Mrs. Tish Childress and Mrs. Martha Willis of Chauncey, Mrs. Mary Hallum of Jacksonville and Mrs. Dollie Burnell of Nelsonville; one brother, Douglas of The Plains; several grandchildren. His wife Hannah and parents and three brothers preceded him in death. He was a member of the Athens Elk Lodge 973.

Funeral services will be Monday at 2 at the Johnson Funeral Home in Nelsonville and burial in the Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
