He was born January 31, 1767 in Frederick County, Virginia, and died January 25, 1824 in Jefferson County, Virginia.

Mary and John were members of the Hopewell Quaker Monthly Meeting in Frederick County, VA. They were also second cousins - their grandfathers were brothers.

She married GEORGE TODD in Tazwell County, VA, son of ANDREW TODD and ELIZABETH SPIES. He was born Abt. 1780 in Bedford County, Virginia, and died Bef. August 05, 1830 in Monroe County, Indiana.

Married- On Tuesday, May 21, by Rev. Hands, Philip McBride, of Harper's Ferry, Va. (now W. Va.), to Miss Harriet Lock, daughter of the late James Lock of Jefferson County, Va. (now W. Va.). (p. 3, c. 2)
DATE OF PUB. Thursday, May 23, 1833.

Harriett seemed to disappear shortly afer the death of Phillip McBride in 1847. According to the property listed in the estate of Phillip, he was a merchant or perhaps a tailor in that the merchandise included large bolts of cloth, fancy cashmere, etc. It is assumed that Phillip McBride was buried with the other Locke's and perhaps Harriett also. Harriett did not appear in any deeds after the death of Phillip. No children were listed in his estate.

In 1850, it appears George is living with his brother John in Jefferson Co, VA. In the last record found for George, he was living with his brother John in Missouri.

19. JOHN³ LOCKE (JOHN² LOCK, JOHN¹ LOCKE) was born November 24, 1778 in VA, and died August 20, 1856. He married MARY SMITH November 23, 1807 in Frederick Co, Virginia ¹⁷, daughter of BARTHOLOMEW SMITH. She was born 1783 in VA, and died December 02, 1859.
