24. LINDSEY4 LOCKE (NEAL3, GEORGE W2, JOHN1) was born 1812 in Frederick, Virginia21, and died Aft. 1880 in Lawrence County, OH or Boyd County, KY. He married MARTHA DIGMA Abt. 1831 in Frederick County, Virginia. She was born 1816 in Virginia21, and died Aft. 1880.

INDSEY LOCKE:
Lindsey and Martha and their children were found in the 1850 Coaltown, Precinct #9, House 94, Dwelling 97) Carter County, Kentucky census (pg 226, line 27). Lindsey was listed as a laborer.

In the 1860 census for Boyd County, Lindsey Lock is shown to be 54 from Penn, married to Martha, aged 50 and with children Mary 19, John 19, Martha 16, Lindsey 14, and George 12.

Lindsey was a witness to the marriage of his son George to Serene Smith in Lawrence County, Ohio on Nov 15, 1869. He and Martha are also found in the 1870 census for Perry Township, Lawrence County, OH where Lindsey is again listed as a "common laborer". This census also shows a John Williams (8 yr old born in Kentucky) living with them. Lindsey and Martha are later found in the 1880 census in Coaltown, Boyd County, KY. Their grandson John W Turner is living with them.

In the death certificate of his son Lindsey (born 1847), Arch Lock indicates the grand-parents to be Linsey Lock and Martha Keller.

Martha was found with her parents and siblings in the 1850 Carter County, Kentucky census.

There is a Martha E Locke shown to marry a Henry P Pope on October 12, 1863. This Martha was 18 years old at the time and Henry was 21 (marriage records, Lawrence County, Books 7-11). She was married the same day by the same minister (John Kelley) as her brother John Locke to Elizabeth Campbell.

25. WILLIAM R4 LOCKE (NEAL3, GEORGE W2, JOHN1) was born January 01, 1817 in Evansville, Frederick, Virginia, and died December 07, 1862 in Prairie Grove, Washington, Arkansas. He married NANCY ANN PIERPOINT April 23, 1836 in Evansville, Preston, Virginia, daughter of JOHN PIERPOINT and SARAH HANWAY. She was born July 12, 1819 in Monogalia, West Virginia, and died April 14, 1904 in Hannibal, Ralls, MO.

ILLIAM R LOCKE:
William and Nancy moved west by boat in 1844 and landed in Alexandria, MO. They traveled by an ox team to Iowa. William and Nancy moved to Vernon Township, Van Buren County, Iowa. This is confirmed in the 1850 census. About 1865, they moved to Clark County, MO settling in Grant Township.

William was killed during the Civil War at the Battle of Pea Ridge, Arkansas. He was buried in the National Cemetery in Fayetteville, AR or in Springfield, MO. His body was moved to Riverside cemetery and is buried next to Nancy. Riverside Cemetery is located in Hannibal, Ralls, MO. He and his ancestors were members of the Methodist church.

In the 1850 and 1860 census, Joshua was living in Vernon Township, Van Buren County, Iowa. He was attending school at that time. He served in the military betwen1861 and 1865 in the Civil War. Joshua served in Company E, 15th IA Infantry. His obit was in the Clark County Courier, Kahoka, MO. He was buried at the Soldiers Home, Marshalltown, Marshall, IA.

He and Louisa were found as a farmers in July 1870 in Des Moines Township, Van Buren County, Iowa. At that time he had an estate valued at $2,500 and personal property of $740.00. He was buried in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cantril, Van Buren, Iowa.
