Notes for JAMES FRANKFORD LOCKE:
A Jan 29, 1931 Clarke Courier had an article on the death of James H. Locke. It stated he was the son of Pierce J. Locke and his wife Sarah Ann. His mother was deceased. He had been a witness in a court case earlier that week. He was a carpenter and a member of Berryville Baptist Church. (It should be noted that the inscription at the cemetery shows it to be James F Locke).

The next week, an article on his burial mentions that he was the last surviving child of Pierce & Sarah who lived near Marvin's Chapel, except a 1/2 bro. William Rutter of Clarke. His wife was Evelyn P. Royston, and he left 5 children: Nellye Belle, 20; Martha Ann, 16; Isabel Lee, 15; Marian Virginia, 12; and a son, Sidney Allen, 19.

CLARKE COUNTY MAN DIES FROM HEART ATTACK:
Berryville, VA - Jan 28
James Locke, 46, died early today from a heart attack at his home on the James Morrow farm near the Shenandoah river. He had been attending a court trial here yesterday as a witness and did not feel at all well, and before returning home visited his physician and obtained some medicine for the ailment.

Mr. Locke, members of the family said, was seized with the heart attack at 1:30 o'clock this morning and jumped out of bed. As he did so, he slimped to the floor dying in a few moments.

Mr. Locke is survived by a widow, who was formerly Miss Page Royston, and five children and also by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Locke.

LOCKE FUNERAL TIES TOMORROW
The funeral of the late James F Locke will take place from the Baptist Church at Berryville at 2:30 o'clock Friday afternon, and not Saturday afternoon, as originally decided upon, it was announced today on behalf of the family. The services will be in charge of the pastor, the Rev. Dr. L.A. Parker and interment will be in Green Hill Cemetery at Berryville.

The following obit appeared in the 1-29-1971 Winchester Evening Star:
Mrs. Eva Paige Locke, 86, of Winchester, died yesterday in the Winchester Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Locke was born Oct 5, 1885 in Clarke County, a daughter of the late Charles A and Martha A. Dove Royston, and was a member of the Baptist Church. Her husband, James Frankford Locke, died in 1930 (Note: should have been 1931).

She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Ernest Locke of Nain, Mrs. Edward Marlow of Boyce, Mrs. Isabelle Shepard of Stephenson, and Miss Marion V Locke of Winchester; 19 grandchildren; two brothers, John Royston of Paris, VA and Clarence Royston of Florida; and two sisters, Mrs. Howard Perry and Mrs. Alice Grim, both of Winchester.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 P.M. Sunday at the Omps Funeral Home by the Rev. Donald A Eckenroth. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Berryville. The family will recieve friends at the funeral home tomorrow evening from 7:30 until 9 o'clock.
