I am a member of the Lumbee Indian tribe of Robeson County, NC. I am researching any surnames associated with the tribe, i.e. Locklear, Strickland, Jones, Jacobs, Maynor, Lowry, Chavis, Brooks, Cummings, Swett and many others. All of the previous surnames, and others being reserched, are deeply rooted in Lumbee tribal history as "Indian names." Most individuals listed in this page who share these surnames are ancestors or members of the tribe.
