| I am researching my family name of LOEWUS.Our family is originally from BOHEMIA. My great grandfather, EMANUEL LOEWUS, came to the US from Bohemia in approx. 1887. He had at least one sibling, CECELIA LOEWUS. He lived in New York for a few years before moving to Towanda, Pennsylvania. His wife's name was Flora Tanzer. Beginning in 1893, they had six children while in Towanda, PA: Rose, Marion, Clara, Sidney, Victor, Isabel and Lillian. They moved to Milwaukee, WI in approx. 1915. One of the daughters, Clara, married William Marshall Cohen, DDS, and my dad, Franklin Allen Loewus, was born in Milwaukee in 1925. I am looking for any information on any others in the LOEWUS family, especially those who stayed in New York City, Brooklyn or Utica. I believe that Emanuel's mother died in Brooklyn, but I don't know her name nor the name of Emanuel's father. I have extensive information to share from my branch. Our surname is very unusual and anyone with this last name is a fairly close relative of mine! |
