We are researching our family, primarily the LOGAN line. The family came to the Alberta, Canada foothills region and became guides and outfitters in the Banff area, primarily in the Ya Ha Tinda.
They came from New Brunswick around about 1885 and before that they were from Ireland or Scotland.
Our research starts with my Great,Great,Grandfather JOHN LOGAN working in Nova Scotia Canada for a family by the name of Kiever? about 1811...
The next person is my grandfather, ROBERT ANDREW LOGAN, born around 1880 in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. He was brought out to Calgary after the death of his parents by his older brothers WILLIAM and/or HARRY who worked for the railroad at that time, along with his other brothers JACK, CHARLIE and sister MARY about 1885.
Our research also includes the PEPPER family, which is my paternal grandmother's family. MABLE PEARL PEPPER was raised in the Cochrane, Alberta, Canada area. She was born May 1,1896 in Edmonton (we believe this is correct!) and died Mar 15, 1935. She had six brothers, JUNE, FRED, TOMMY, HERMAN, WALLY and GEORDIE.
On my mother's side, her parents were CHESTER TRUEY PAINTER and NINA OLIVIA HANEY, although we aren't positive of her first name. Her family came from Turtleford, Saskatchewan, Canada and before that Dakota, US and before that Norway. We know her Mother was born in Norway.
We would like to hear from ANYONE who has any information that could lead us to more of our family history. If you think you have found a link to our family, please contact us. We will gladly share all information that we have with anyone who feels we can help them.
