* Breeding's, Hicks', Molstad's, Sheldon's, & Woodruff's*

Updated March 4, 2009

DEDICATED IN MEMORY of
My mom - JANIS CAROL (MOLSTAD) GERTENRICH: December 7, 1938 - November 24, 2006 &
my son - IAN ANDREW LOKEN: February 6, 1997 - January 4, 2004

Also DEDICATED IN MEMORY of my Great-Aunt Grace Emma Breeding Determan: January 1, 1911 - July 16, 2003. Without her, I would never have had a real beginning into doing this genealogy. She was a very special lady, and her presence will be greatly missed by those who loved her and called her family, among whom I am glad to have been.

This website involves MUCH MORE than just what's listed in the title. It's about the descendants of BRYAN WOODROVE (b. 1141) down into the name change to WOODRUFF (MATTHEW WOODRUFF b. 1616 in Cambridge, England), the descendants of DAVID HICKS, SR.. (b. abt. 1793 in New York), the descendants of THOMAS BREEDING (b. abt. 1800 ), the descendants of WILLIAM SHELDON (b. 1611 in Yorkshire, England), the descendants of OLE HALVORSEN (b. bef. 1844 in Norway) down into the name change to MOLSTAD (OLE MOLSTAD b. 1880 in Toten, Norway), and the descendants of MARTIN PAULSON (b. 1852 in Toten, Norway).

It's about how it started with the Woodruff's who married into the Hicks',who married into the Sheldon's, who then married into the Breeding's, who married into the Molstad's, who had married into the Paulson's.

It's about Grandpa & Grandma Owen & Joyce (Breeding) Molstad (Canton, SD); Great-Grandma & Great-Grandpa Lila Maude (Hicks) & George Breeding (White Lake, SD; then Canton, SD); Great-Grandma & Great-Grandpa Mathilda (Paulson) & Ole Molstad (Mabel, MN; Hesper, IA; & then Canton, SD); Great-Great-Grandma & Great-Great-Grandpa Mary Emma (Sheldon) & Jesse David Hicks (Canton, SD); and all the others who came before.

It's about HISTORY and what I can do to preserve it for my children as well as my family.

Thanks to my Great-Aunt Grace without whom a lot of this would be just plain IMPOSSIBLE (she put many a name to a face for me as well as providing many stories).

Thanks also to Bud Sagen, Carmen Peterson, Donna Hicks, Dorothy Anderson, Ella Mae Korthals, June Kleffman, Melissa Molstad, Patty Breeding, Robert Hicks, Ruth Torfin, and Wilma Helmer who all gave me information on their parts of the family tree; without their help, I would not have a lot of the information which I do. THANKS !!!!!!

I do have A LOT of gaps though - not much on the descendants of Loyde or Marion Hicks. If anyone can help me fill those in, I would GREATLY appreciate it.

I also need to say a HUGE "THANK YOU" to the Lincoln County Register of Deeds, Kathleen Hill, and her staff for ALL of their help and answers for my continous questions. (If you ever need to deal with a R.O.D. or their staff, Lincoln County, South Dakota is where you want to do it.). (January - August 2002)

KUDO's to the former Minnehaha County Courthouse Register of Deeds, Marlene Wolfe, and her fabulous staff; they let me pick through the death certificates for almost three hours without kicking me out. :0) (April 2002)

Another HUGE "THANK YOU" goes out to the Whiteside County County Clerk's Office in Morrison, Illinois; they were patient, they were kind, it was a fabulous experience. (April 2002)

If you have any information that you think might pertain to my family genealogical work, please don't hesitate to email me.
Enjoy!!
