A number of Landry descendants have submitted "inside the cheek" samples for DNA analyses. The DNA profiles surprisingly showed at least three unrelated lines of Landrys. For more information click on the "Landry Surname DNA Project" below. Then click on "results." Direct male descendants of one of the early Landry progenitors are invited to join the project.
After you have perused this site, you may wish to visit other related sites listed below. Expedia maps will take you to the EXPEDIA website. For a map of Quebec where the Landrys lived, use the place boxes and key in Quebec, Quebec, Canada for the location and select North America; then click on "find a map". You will be asked to verify your location. Then click on "find a map" again. In the left lower corner of the map you can select a small, medium, or large map - select large. Zoom in or out and about to your liking. You can center your area of interest by clicking on that part of the map. You can move about with the directional arrows. The island east of Quebec City (Ile d'Orleans) is where several early generations of Landrys lived (zoom in to locate Ste. Famille). For small cities (i.e., Ste. Marie de Beauce) or other parts of Quebec, you will need to back up to the data entry page, enter your city, and repeat the steps to the map. Similarly, to get the appropriate map of France, return to the data entry page; click on Europe; key in La Ventrouze, Basse-Normandie, France for the location; click on "find a map"; when prompted, reselect "La Ventrouze, Basse-Normandie, France"; click on "find a map"; zoom in or out to your liking. Periodically the EXPEDIA site makes changes, so you may need to alter the procedures that I have provided. A map of old Acadia can be accessed below.
Family Tree Maker 2010 will not allow me to update my file to this page. I've chosen to leave as is rather than delete it. Hopefully you will find it useful. My personal version now contains nearly 109,000 individuals. You can see it at: www.landrygenealogy.com.
