He received a Revolutionary Pay Voucher #4334 for nine pounds for public claims in the upper Board of Auditors January 15, 1784 from Treasurer and Comptrollers Papers.
He moved to Wilkins Co. NC in 1799.
He bought his first tract of land in Maury Co, Tn. ( that section which later became Marshall Co.) Jan 11, 1818
John is listed in the 1810 census of Wilkes County NC with his first family of 10 children. The mother, Martha, of his older children died soon after this census.
He recieved a land grand on Nov.28, 1812. Some time between 1812 and 1814 he left NC, because on September 28, 1814 he gave his attorney, power of attorney, to sell a tract of land and sign his name the same as if John were present in NC.
He may have stayed in Kentucky a while before moving south to Maury County, Tn.
