Bever, 62, died Friday afternoon at Abilene hospital after an illness of three months. Mr. Bever lived in Enterprise for 36 years, serving as a city councilman for three years and as mayor for seven. He was born on July 30, 1905, in Ft. Scott. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Enterprise, Masonic Lodge No. 437, and the Eastern Star. He is survived by his widow, Lucille, of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Betty Londeen, Enterprise, and Mrs. Imogene Riker, Wichita; one son, Dorvin, Wilmington, Ill., 12 grandchildren one great-grandchild. The funeral will be at 10 am Monday at the United Methodist Church of Enterprise. Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery. Obituaries RUSSELL D. BEVER Russell D. Bever, son of John C. and Ida D. Mr. Bever moved to Enterprise, Kan., with his parents in 1921. On January 23, 1925 he was married to Lucille Hart. He was employed by the J. B. Ehrsam Mfg. Co. in 1925. In 1951, he went to work Jones-Hettelsetter of Kansas City. During this employment he traveled through-out the eastern states and Cuba. Mr. Bever returned to the J. B. Ehrsam Mfg Co. in 1958 and worked there until he became ill. He was active and interested in the welfare of Enterprise, having .served as Councilman for three years and Mayor from 1961 until the time of his death. He was a member of the Enterprise Methodist Church and the Enterprise Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star. He was a loving and thoughtful husband and father, a kind neighbor and friend who will be sadly missed by his family, relatives and friends. Mr. Bever was preceded in death by his mother in 1922 and his father in 1945. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Lucille; two daughters, Mrs. Imogene Riker of Wichita, Kan., Mrs. Betty Londeen of Enterprise, Kan., and one son, Dorvin H. Bever of Wilmington, Ill.; 12 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Enterprise United Methodist Church, July 8, 1968, with Rev. ENTERPRISE JOURNAL Thursday, July 11, 1968 MAYOR RUSSELL BEVER DIED FRIDAY, JULY 5 Enterprise lost a good citizen and it’s Mayor last Friday by the death of Russell Bever. He died at Memorial hospital in Abilene where he has been the past three months, following a stroke. Russell D. Bever, son of John C. and Ida D. Bever, was born in Fort Scott, Kansas, July 30, 1905, and died July 5, 1968, at the Abilene Memorial hospital at the are of 62 years, 11 months and 5 days. Mrs. Bever was born Laura Lucille Hart on Oct. 19, 1905, in Talmage. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell; and a daughter, Imogene Beu; and a great-grandchild. Survivors include a son, Dorvin of Washington Island, Wis.; a daughter, Betty Bever Londeen of Wichita; and 12 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Londeen Funeral Chapel, 206 W. Fifth, Box 429, Chapman 67431. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, south of Enterprise. She moved with her family as a child to Enterprise. She attended Chapman High School. She married Russell D. Bever on Jan. 25, 1924, in Abilene. They lived in Enterprise for several years. He preceded her in death. She was member of the Enterprise United Methodist Church, Women's Society of Christian Services, Melita Chapter No. 116 Order of the Eastern Star, where she was a past worthy matron, and Enterprise Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include one son, Dorvin Bever of Washing-ton Island,Wis.; one daughter, Betty Bever Londeen of Wichita; and 12 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Imogene Beu; and one great-grandson. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2007, at Londeen Funeral Chapel, Chapman, with the Rev. Leslie Londeen and the Rev. Schar Cross officiating.
