Stephen Kauffman (son of Isaac Kauffman and Anna Streit) was born 1725 in Berks Co. Pennsylvania, and died 1800 in Berks Co.,Pennsylvania. He married Barbara Yoder on 1746 in Berks Co. Pennsylvania.
Notes for Stephen Kauffman: "The first known Amish settlement in America was located in north-central Berks County, Pennsylvania. In 1736 the Detweiler and Sieber families arrived, perhaps the first of approximately 500 Amish families who immigrated to the new world in the 1700's. This original grew until it included perhaps 200 people. By 1750 such common twentieth century Amish surnames as Fisher, Herschberger, Hochstetler Kauffman, Lantz, Miller, Speicher, Troyer, and Yoder were already represented in Berks County."
