the longmuir family of kincardin scotlandUpdated May 17, 2007 | THE LONGMUIRS FROM INVERBERVIE In reviewing the Church of Scotland registers, the earliest record found of our LONGMUIR ancestors was when JAMES LONGMUIR was born on the farms of Cantayhills and Hill of Monduff, in the Parish of Fetteresso in the year 1702.This is in the vicinity of Inverbervie. He was probably a farmer and married CHRISTIAN BEATTIE, who was two years older than JAMES having been born in 1700.JAMES and CHRISTIAN LONGMUIR produced a family of three boys and two girls, all born in the Parish of Fetteresso their names are JOHN, ANDREW, JAMES, MARGARET and CHRISTIAN.Their third son JAMES from whom we are descended was a tailor in Johnshaven, who married RACHEL RANKIN in Benholm on 29th June 1770, the same year that Captain Cook was discovering Australia to where some of our relatives emigrated. The LONGMUIRS all came from Inverbervie a beautiful town 37klm south of Aberdeen. |
