My grandmother Ella Mae attended Morganton School for the Deaf, Morganton (Burke County) NC
from Sept 12, 1900 to 1908. She did not graduate High School. She was born totally deaf. When she entered the school she was 11 years old. There were no other reports of deafness in the family until her youngest sister was born, Emma Caroline Cook born Dec. 1898 was born totally deaf as well.
