Notes for Earl Marion Cottom: GALESBURGÙvEarl M. Cottom, 88, 633 E. Fifth St., died at 12:24 p.m. Wednesday (Dec. 27, 2000) in OSF St. Mary Medical Center, 3333 N. Seminary St. He was born April 6, 1912, in Campbell Hill, the son of Simon and Emma Sandusky Cottom. He married Elizabeth ÙSBettyÙT Kostelecky on Jan. 28, 1946. Surviving are his wife, two sons, Alan Cottom, Galesburg, and David Cottom, Abingdon; one daughter, Judith French, Woodland, Wash; one sister, Ruth Bultemeier, Avon; seven grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one stepgreat-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by three brothers, three sisters and twin granddaughters. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He farmed in Warren County and worked for Butler Manufacturing Co. He attended Hope Wesleyan Church. He collected and restored antique cars, and was a charter member of the Western Illinois Antique Auto Club. Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Watson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jeff Barclay officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery.
