.In the opening of the 19th century the family removed to West Virginia, where a home was established on Cheat River. There the 3 older sons engqaged in the manufacture of millstones, which were shipped on rafts to various points on the Ohio River including those in a pioneer mill in Scioto, Harrison CountyOhio. from the proceeds derived from this manufacturing enterprise, the three brothers made investment in wild lands in Harrison CO OH, where they acquired about 800 acres.
