Welcome to the Lord/Atkins/Ahl Family Home Page. I am Don Lord, originally from Bethel, Maine, and am researching my Lord ancestors starting with Hari Lord who lived in Wales. Hari's grandson, Nathan Lord, came from England in 1637 and settled in Kittery, ME. Later generations settled in South Berwick, Lovell and Rumford, ME. My g-g-grandfather, Isaiah Lord, was born April 25, 1806 and lived in Lovell,ME. His grandson, John Francis Lord, lived in Rumford Center, ME where my Father Lawrence Albra Lord was born in 1901.
My wife, Jenny, is from Dos Palos, CA, and is researching her ATKINS and AHL ancestors. She recently traced the Atkins family back to James Atkins of Sandwich, MA. James' grandson, Nathaniel Atkins (b. 1739), was an early settler of Wayne, ME, and Nathaniel's sons later moved to the Peru/Dixfield/Canton Maine areas. Jenny's ancestors later moved from Peru, Maine to Illinois, then Kansas, and in 1917, moved to Dos Palos, CA.

The AHL family originated in Sweden. In 1881, John Alfred Ahl, Jenny's g-grandfather, came to the United States and was an early settler of Eldon, Washington, where he established the first school, was Post Master for the Eldon US Post Office, and was influential in establishing the Olympic Highway, which is now US Route 101 in Washington State.
