The Lorings in America--1634 to Present

I am researching the Loring family from the arrival of Thomas Loring in MA in 1634 to the present day. My two primary sources are the "Loring Genealogy," by Charles Henry Pope, Murray and Emery Company, Cambridge, MA, 1917; and "Loring Genealogy, a Continuation and Revision of Material Published in 1917 by Charles Henry Pope," Knowlton and McLeary Co., Farmington, ME 1971. Other information has been derived from multiple sources on the internet. Some of this information has been very good; some of it, as might be expected, is not so good. I've tried to maximize the good, and verify the unsubstantiated.

My objectives in this research are three-fold: First, I want to "fill in the blanks" on many of my predecessors. These people lived full lives, and deserved to be remembered with more than, "He lived in Braintree. He was a farmer."

Second, I want to bring the research up to the present time. I'm sure in the last 30 years, many new Lorings have entered the world. They should be accounted for.

Finally, various strings of our family have disappeared; ie, they moved out of New England, and weren't accounted for after moving. I want to reconnect these strings.

Info is always appreciated. Just email me at JRL98965@Aol.com with any family stories, family strings, mistakes I've made, etc.

Chicago, IL
