Hughes/Blaesser of NY, NY Patterson/Patterson of Albany, NY

I am researching information on my families all from New York.

Specifically on my mother's side, information on Hughes of Brooklyn, NY, Stumpf and Blaesser of Bronx, New York - all originally from Germany or Ireland.

I am also searching for information on my father's side - all information I have indicates that both grandparents last names were Patterson and both were born in Albany, NY - originally their families came from Ireland, Scotland and/or England/Wales. John Patterson was born in Ireland in 1823 and had a son James, who fathered my grandfather, Thomas.
Joseph Patterson was the father of my grandmother, Margaret (Maggie) - and I'm not sure where he was from originally.

Any information is greatly appreciated and I am willing to share information that I have found.
