Notes for Michael (Michal) Walkoviak:
It is understood that there are descendants of Michael's family living in many different states all over the United States. Some even living abroad (Europe), unlike the early settlers. At one time in this family Polish Catholics married only Polish Catholics, however this is no longer the case.

The 1880 U.S. Census for Anderson, Grimes County, Texas (U.S. Archives microfilm roll 1307, pg 66) shows the following: Name, Relationship, Age, Place of Birth
Mike Husband 47 Prussia
Rose Wife 37 Prussia
Charlie Son 12 Prussia
George Son 9 Prussia
Fannie Daughter 6 Texas
Joe Son 5 Texas
Victoria Daughter 4 Texas
Catherine Daughter 2 Texas
Tom Son 1/12 Texas

**If the 1880 census shows Michael was 47 years old, then he was born in 1833, not 1841.**

Michael and his wife, Rosalie came to this country with two children, Charlie & George. After their arrival, they were blessed with six more children born in Grimes County.
According to his headstone, his name is spelled "Michal Walkowak".
Michael was one of the signers of a petition to His Excellency Bishop to assign a local priest for the Anderson Parish in the person of Rev. Adam Laski who was at the time present pastor of parish Bryan Adm. Anderson.
