She was born August 15, 1888 in Anderson, Grimes County, Texas, and died December 22, 1979 in South Bend, St Joseph County, Indiana.

Notes for Vincentius "Vincent" Walkoviak:
Vincent and his wife, Mary were the first to arrive in South Bend, Indiana along with there family in 1919.
Coming from Large family, Vincent had many nieces and nephews in Grimes County, Texas.
Both Vincent's wife Mary and his daughter Regina report that the reason the family left Texas was because of Vincent's terrible headaches and his bouts with sunstroke. Mary would treat him with corn meal poultices. Regina reported that Vincent's headaches would make him roll about the floor in pain and on at least one occasion he went blind for several days. His doctor told to find work that was not in the sun and away from the heat.
The couple left their farm and Vincent tried operating a store of some kind, but according to Mary, he went broke because his hired manager stole everything they had. The manager was hired to fill in for Vincent during his days of headaches because Vincent felt it was not proper for a woman to do a man's work and to deal with men all day long.
When Vincent and Mary moved up north, they first moved to Bronson, Michigan. They stayed with in-laws named Bohacz (also spelled Bohaczka). It was these in-laws who established that there was work to be had in the north. Vincent eventually found work at the Studebaker Wagon Works factory which was making automobiles and they moved to South Bend, Indiana.
William F. Hehlinski reports that he heard Vincent refer to having worked alongside his brother-in-law "Sumeracki" at the Thurber, Texas brick yards. Texas Pioneers from Poland, copyright 1971, printed by Texian Press, Waco, Texas, reports a non-chronological list of Polish coal miners in Thurber, Texas, 1890-1920. Three Walkowiak's are listed: Anthony, John and Mathias.
