Daniel Sills (son of Joseph Sills and Catherine)^{153, 154} was born 01 Jul 1804 in Bedford County, PA, and died 04 Sep 1873 in Wells County, IN. He married Mary Blackford on 22 Jun 1826 in Clark County, Ohio, daughter of John Blackford and Elizabeth Buckles.

Daniel Sills, Sr., and Mary Blackford were married on June 22, 1826 and settled in Ohio, later coming to Indiana.
Mary Blackford was born November 9, 1806, the daughter of John Blackford, from which Blackford County, Indiana, received its name from original settlers, ancestors of Mary Blackford.
On March 1, 1842, Daniel Sr. and Mary moved onto a farm which was cleared by Daniel and his sons. This farm later became the home of his son, Daniel Jr. Daniel Sr. devoted the greater part of his life to farming and hunting.
