Notes for G
EORGE WEEDON:
From Ancestors and Descendants of Herschel R. Weedon and his wife Pattie Lee Cross as compiled by Mrs. Herschel R. Weedon in 1981:

George Weedon was the first Weedon to come to America from England and settled in Westmoreland County, Virginia. He first appears as a headright in a patent issued to Sir Thomas Lunsford on the 24 of October in 1650, when he was only 18 years old. He was not an indentured servant as he immediately begins to appear on the Westmoreland County Court records. He purchased land in 1657 and sold and received land in 1660 until 1681.

From Duty, Honor or Country by Harry M. Ward copyright 1979 George Weedon arrived in America as an indentured servant in 1650 but was soon free.

From George Harrison Sanford King, Fellow, American Society of Genealogists, 30 December 1968

The age of George Weedon is established as 1632 thru a deposition taken in May 1677 in which he states his age to be 45; this is recorded in Westmoreland Record Book 1665-1677, page 303.

From George Harrison Sanford King, Fellow, American Society of Genealogists, 30 December 1968

Westmoreland County Court Order Bood 1675/6 - 1688/9 page 242 under Court Proceedings for February 22, 1681/2:

Whereas George Weedon the son and executor of George Weedon,             deceased, produced in Court a will of the said George Weedon             desiring it might be proved which was granted accordingly and Hugh       Connell beinge sworne in Court did afirme that the said George             Weedon the testator signe seale and publish the said will but because       the other witnesses were not in Court to dispose viva voca to the             further proofe thereof the Court doe order that Mr. Lawrence             Washington and Mr. William Horton doe take the despositions upon             oath of Daniel White, Michaell Phillips and Elizabeth Phillips if they or       some of their testimoney may be had and returne them under their             hands and seals to the next Court held for this County: And Bunch Roe       and John Foxall doe oblige themselves with the said George Weedon       in One hundred thousand pounds of Tobacco as security to save             harmless hi Majties Justices of the Peace for this country from all             manner of Damages that may arise by reason of this grant and act and       does all manner of acts and things required of an Executor.

It is indeed unfortunate for the Weedon Genealogy that the will of George Weedon (1632-1682) is among the lost records.

Notes for S
ARAH TURNER:
From Ancestors and Descendants of Hershel R. Weedon and his wife Pattie Lee Cross as compiled by Mrs. Herschel R. Weedon in 1981:

Sarah Turner was the daughter of John Turner. There was a John Turner and two sons who came to America on the Mayflower. His wife and daughter, Sarah, came later, this is probably the same man.

******************************

From the late John Horatio Nelson:

On May 10, 1659 Francis Hale made a deed of gift to "Sarah Weedon, daughter unto John Turner" and on May 11, 1659 John Turner made a deed of gift to his daughter Sarah Weedon. As George and Sarah Weedon appear in later records as man and wife, it is certain that George Weedon married Sarah Turner, daughter of John Turner, and it appears very likely about May 1659. As John Washington witnessed the deed of gift from Hale to Sarah Weedon, mention of the document is made by Mr. C.A. Hoppin in his volume, The Washington Ancestry, p. 154. The actual manuscript recording is in Westmoreland County Court Order Book 1653-59, p. 130.
