Notes for G
EORGE WEEDON:
From the late John Horatio Nelson:

By will dated 5 September 1703, George Weedon of Washington Parish, Westmoreland County, provided that all of his land in Westmoreland County should descend to his son Jordan Weedon, then an infant, and if he d.s.p., to the testator's daughter, Mary Weedon. He further provided that if both Jordan and Mary Weedon d.s.p., the said landed estate should go to George Weedon (son of Thomas Weedon) and George Weedon (son of Benjamin Weedon). While he does not say so, in view of the laws then in effect in regard to land, it seems to be fact that these two George Weedons of the third generation in Virginia were sons of his brothers Thomas and Benjamin Weedon.

George Weedon provided that his personal estate should be equally divided among his wife Susanna and his two children Jordan and Mary Weedon. He made several other interesting bequeaths: (1) to George Beard (his step-son), a suit of cloths; (2) to Benjamin Weedon (no relationship stated), a suit of cloths; (3) to Thomas Weedon (no relationship stated) my ring the Posie being in memory of John Jordan; (4) brother John Weedon is to have the care of children (Jordan and Mary Weedon) and live on the plantation with them.

Notes for G
ENT. THOMAS WEEDON:
From the late John Horatio Nelson:

In 1701 Thomas Weedon was appointed a surveyor of the highways in Washington Parish.

The next record I have of Thomas Weedon is on 22 February 1709 when his last will and Testament was offered for probate by Robert Lovell, his executor. (Court Order Book 1705- 1721, p. 137, court recordings of 22 February 1709). The last will and Testament of Thomas Weedon ( 16 -1709) is also among the missing records of Westmoreland County.

29 March 1722: Ordered that the sheriff of this county do Summon       George Weedon one of the orphants of Thomas Weedon, Gent., dec'd.,       to be at the next Court to answer the petition of John Brown who       intermarried with Jamima Weedon one of the said Weedon's orphants       relating to her parent of her father's estate.
      (Court Order Books 1721-1731, p.16 = 29 March 1722)

On 30 July 1734 John Weedon, brother and nearest friend of Thomas Weedon, deceased, came into court and stated the said Thomas Weedon died intestate. (Court Order Book 1731-1739, p. 143, court proceedings 30 July 1734). On the same day, as was customary, the court ordered that an inventory of the personal estate of Thomas Weedon, dec'd, be taken and this was done and returned to court by John Weedon, his administrator. (Records, Inventories, & c: 1723-1746, p. 144). I fail to find any division of his estate and if he died unmarried (as I believe he did), by the colonial law of Virginia his estate passed to his eldest brother and in as much as his brother, John Weedon, was his administrator it appears very likely he inherited his estate and therefore no further records are found.

Notes for J
ONES OR CATESBY:
Note or thought that there is a good chance that the surname was Catesby as their great-grandson named one of his sons John Catesby Weedon.
