6. GEORGE³ WEEDON (BENJAMIN², GEORGE¹) was born Abt. 1699, and died 1739. He married FRANCES SANFORD 1720, daughter of RICHARD SANFORD and SUSANNAH FRANKLIN. She was born Abt. 1703 in Westmoreland Co., Virginia, and died Abt. 1757 in Westmoreland Co., Virginia.

Notes for FRANCES SANFORD:
After the death of George Weedon, Frances married John Dishman the son of Samuel du Chemin and Cornelia Surname Unknown. It should also be noted that two of Samuel and Cornelia's other sons married into the Weedon Family. James Dishman married Marry Weedon, daughter of John Weedon, Sr..
David Dishman married Sarah Weedon also the daughter of John Weedon, Sr..

Frances married a third time, after the death of John Dishman, to a Robert Harrison.

This John Weedon who died in 1740 and whom we will designate as "Sr." lived all of his life in Westmoreland Co., Virginia. We do not know who he married but since he named his first son Augustine and that is the first time the name "Augustine" appears in the Weedon family, it is a good clue that the wife of John Weedon Sr., was the daughter of Mr. Augustine??? John Weedon died in 1740 and his wife predeceased him. His will is brief and he left his estate to his four children as follows:

1. John Weedon, Jr., (17-- to 1775) received the 100 acre plantation on which he lived. John Married Molly Pritchard.

2. Augustine Weedon (17--to 1763 his older son was to receive the residue of his land. He directed that his personal estate be divided equally between his two sons and his two daughters

3. Mary Weedon who married James Dishman

4. Sarah Weedon who married David Dishman

From Herschell R. Weedon and John Horatio Nelson

The will of John Weedon, Sr. was dated 23 September 1740 and signed with an "X", his mark. He may have been ill at the time as he died between this date and 25 November 1740 when the will was offered for probate by his son, John Weedon. Witnesses were: Robert Harrison, William Davis and Robert Doeling. (Westmoreland County D&W #9, p. 121). (Thought from Carolyn Lowe: is this the same Robert Harrison who married Frances Sanford Weedon Harrison?]

As was customary, upon proving a will, the court on 25 November 1740 ordered that the estate of John Weedon, Deceased, be appraised and this was done to the total valuation of __165.18:4 3/4 by his neighbors John White, Jr., and Thomas Chancellor and James Butler. They acknowledged their appraisement before William Tyler, Gent., justice of the peace for Westmoreland County, Virginia. This remains of record in Records, Inventories, & c: 1723-1746, page 243. And in the same book on p. 268 is a supplemental inventory of the estate of the said John Weedon, deceased, which has "come to hand" since the principal appraisement - Hay valued to __0:8:0 and this is signed by John Weedon, Jr., executor.

Neither Mr. Nelson nor myself have found any evidence of the name of the wife of John Weedon, Sr. ( 16 -1740). As his elder son was named Augustine and this is the first time to my knowledge that this name appeared in the Weedon family, it is a good clue that the wife of John Weedon was the daughter of Mr. Augustine_______.
