3. Jacob3 Bainter (Godfrey2, Theodore Frederick1) was born 1772 in Maryland, and died January 10, 1865 in Monroe Township, Muskingum County, Ohio. He married Elizabeth Rife Abt. 1795 in Maryland.

Notes for Jacob Bainter:
There is a Jacob Bainter buried at the New Hope Cemetery near Adamsville, Ohio. He was a patriot of the Revolutionary War. Recorded at the Ohio Adjutant General's Office is this data: "Jacob Bainter, died 1835 at age 93 (he would have been born about 1742); buried New Hope Lutheran Cemetery, Salem Township, Muskingum County, Ohio, block 1. Served in the Revolutionary War."

Ione Bradford Supplee, who had done most of the research on the Bainters feel that this Jacob Bainter is a brother to Godfrey Bainter. He could possibly be a father to some of the mysterious Bainter's who were supposed to be temporary migrants through the Ohio area.

While viewing the 1830 Census of Muskingum County, Ohio, Ione found this:

Jacob Bainter, Godfrey's son, living in Monroe Township, and his household contained the following: 1 male & 1 female 50-60 years of age (this would be Jacob and wife Elizabeth); 5 males and 2 females 20-30 years of age (this would be sons John, Frederick, George, Daniel, and Elias (Eli), and daughters Eliza and Mariah); 1 male 15 to 20 years of age (this would be Jacob, Jr.); and 1 female 10 to 15 years of age (this would be Elizabeth); also, 1 male 70 to 80 years of age, whom Ione believes to be the Revolutionary War Patriot.

Ione has found, doing her own family history, that it is not uncommon for an elderly aunt or uncle to be living with a niece or nephew whether they had children or not. There are also many discrepancies in ages which these early settlers reported themselves to be. Since many of them could neither read or write, they kept few, if any, records. Many did not know how old they really were or the exact date of their birth.
