8. Henry3 Bainter (Godfrey2, Theodore Frederick1)26 was born Abt. 1789 in Bedford, Pennsylvannia, and died 1884 in Hocking County, Ohio27. He married Mary Ann Shroyer28 September 01, 1812 in Muskingum County, Ohio29, daughter of Phillip Shroyer and Maria Sturtz.

Henry and Polly Bainter were farmers in Monroe Twp., Muskingum County, Ohio for a number of years. In 1829 he was appointed the first Postmaster of that township by President Andrew Jackson. Sometime between 1830 and 1840 they moved to Washington Twp., Hocking County, Ohio where he died. It is thought he is buried at the Ilesboro Cemetery there. Henry and Polly were the parents of a large family, but I have not been able to find all of their children. Uncle Ol Shroyer wrote in his family record that they were the parents of 16 children. I have located 5 children of Henry and Polly buried at New Hope near Adamsville, Ohio. After Henry's death, Polly moved back to the area of Adamsville, Ohio to live with her daughter, Mrs. Solomon Gaumer, where she died in 1886. She is buried at New Hope Lutheran Cemetery.

Obituary on file at Muskingum County Library dated July 4, 1884 reads:

OBITUARY-BAINTER
      Died at La Harpe, Ill., July 4th at 8 A.M. Andrew Bainter after an illness of but two days. The deceased was the last of a family of 12 children who emigrated from Bedford County, Pennsylvania, to Muskingum County in 1801. He was born Dec. 26, 1795, the youngest but one of the family, Peter Bainter being the youngest, who died in La Harpe May 4th 1883. In 1814 Andrew Bainter was married to Elizabeth Minich who was born in Md., July 3, 1794 and died in 1881 having lived as man and wife over 67 years.
      The deceased removed in 1853 to this vicinity from Monroe Township, Muskingum County, where he had resided near 40 years, and where very many of his relatives still reside. Two of the children of the deceased are buried in the Lutheran cemetery near Adamsville together with near 100 other relatives, and he is buried in the beautiful Cemetery at La Harpe, Ill., where over 50 relatives sleep their last sleep.
